Mbewe: It was unbelievable

Getta Brazil (Coca-Cola) promotion winner Dyghton Mbewe from Mzuzu has shared his lessons from his recent trip to the ongoing 2014 Fifa World Cup.

Mbewe witnessed two life-changing matches between Argentina and Bosnia Herzegovina, then Chile against Brazil at the legendary 100 000-seater Maracana during his trip between June 14 and 21 2014.

“Football fans out there love the game and appreciate its benefit. There were some 75 000 fans during the first game. They celebrate peacefully. Even those who are drunk behave like someone is remote controlling them,” said Mbewe who is a gospel artist.

“Seats are so comfortable. Each ticket bears gate and seat numbers. Even when you are late, no one can take up the seat you are allocated. They even go seat by seat verifying if people have taken their right seats,” Mbewe explained.

He said he was privileged to put up in the same hotel with the deposed World Cup kings Spain and he learnt that players are treated like kings; offered VIP treatment, including use of helicopters and tight security.

“So unbelievable is the experience of watching a World Cup match. Time flies and you complain when the final whistle is blown. I wish I could share these notes with the Flames,” he said hours before heading back to Mzuzu.

For Mbewe to win, he deposited three underliners for beverages such as Fanta with the words Getta, another three written Brazil and deposited in competition boxes that were placed in leading retail outlets countrywide.

Meanwhile, Carlsberg Malawi corporate communications officer Towela Munthali has clarified that 2 Nights in Rio (Carlsberg), which Mathews Mughogho shunned recently over $50 stipend he felt was on a lower side, is a different promotion from Getta Brazil (Coca-Cola) promotion.
